The Future Health Professionals Camp, or Camp FHP 2022, is part of the new BaptistU HealthCORE community outreach initiative in collaboration with Baptist Health Sciences University (BHSU) and Memphis-Shelby County Schools (SCS). The camp is sponsored by BHSU and the Memphis Medical District Collaborative (MMDC).
Camp FHP takes place June 6–17 from 9 a.m. to noon at BHSU. The free camp is for ninth to 12th grade SCS students with a minimum GPA of 2.7 and an interest in health sciences.
Activities include a hands-on laboratory, clinical observation, tours and educational events. The camp aims to help reduce health disparities in the community, encourage interest in health professions among high school students and establish mentorship opportunities to support students throughout their college enrollment.
Because of strong interest in the camp, there’s a waiting list for participation. For more information, contact Dr. Lilian Nyindodo at Lilian.Nyindodo@BaptistU.edu.
