Street Designation Honors a Lasting Local Legacy
Dr. Harold W. Jordan’s legacy is being honored with a posthumous street designation near Meharry Medical College in Nashville. A pioneering physician and educator, Dr. Jordan broke barriers as Vanderbilt’s first Black physician and later served as Tennessee’s first Black mental health commissioner. The designation recognizes his lifelong commitment to medicine, mentorship, diversity, and public service, ensuring his impact continues to inspire future generations.
